Welcome to the first episode of The Lectionary Lounge! We hope we found us for the practical Bible commentary and sermon prep inspiration (while we have MDivs, professional Bible scholars we are not), and stay for the vibes. Each week Pastor Byrnese (she/her) and Pastor Mikayla (she/her) will chat about what scripture(s) they are preaching on that week, as well as what in life is keeping them from writing their sermons in a timely fashion.
This week we discuss preaching both the second reading text, James 3:13-4:8, listed for the Eighteenth Sunday after Pentecost in Cycle B from the Revised Common Lectionary. You'll hear this text read in today's episode from The New Living Translation and partly from the Common English Bible.
