Episode 3: Rebecca's Story

Listen Later

This is the episode where it was literally the first time I had ever recorded anything. I recorded my story and a pilot on my own after I had gotten a couple interviews under my belt, so please forgive the echo and the breaks and the plethora of topics that came up that didn't always offer a solution; I'm getting better! If you're a reader, there are lots of books about postpartum depression, but I've only found one book so far on Postpartum Psychosis. It's a very tricky subject and it's very scary to think about. Rebecca sees all sorts of mental health issues come up in her work space so we tended to talk about the mental side of postpartum and knowing when you're at your limit and knowing yourself well enough to help others know how to help you. This takes the ability to pause and introspect in the midst of the sleeplessness, pain, breastfeeding, baby cries, and partner communication. She will have to come back and talk in more detail about "body awareness" effective communication, knowing yourself, and postpartum mental issues. Oh, and off-mic, she brought up postpartum sex. She's a wealth of information!
