A man called G.I. Gurdjieff once said: 'If you wish to get out of prison, the first thing you must do is realize that you are in prison. If you think you are free, you can't escape.'
In this episode, we'll explore the nature of the mind, the 'stickiness' of our thoughts, the urgent pull they have on our attention, and how they create some kind of mental prison in our consciousness. A prison whose bars are made of thought: verbal and visual thought. We'll explore the nature of thought and navigate the illusion that words and images create. We do this because of what Gurdjieff said: we need to familiarize ourselves with the mechanisms that imprison us before we can free ourselves from them.
We examine closely the two types of thoughts that your mind creates: verbal and visual, we'll guide you so that you can experience them yourself. The more we understand how our mind works, the easier it's going to be for us to see beyond it. What lies beyond it? We introduce the first element of the 'deeper dimension of consciousness' that we've been hinting at: the one who observes. That part of your consciousness who just observes the mind, the one who listens to the thoughts... the witness.
Lastly, we introduce the practice of meditation and mindfulness as an essential tool in this journey of self-realization.
