In "Through the Roof!" from Mark 2:1-12, four determined friends carry their paralyzed buddy to a house so packed with people that they can't get through the door—so they climb onto the roof, dig a hole through it, and lower him down right in front of Jesus. Instead of immediately healing the man's legs, Jesus surprises everyone by first forgiving his sins, which makes the religious teachers furious because only God can forgive sins. Jesus, knowing exactly what they're thinking, proves his authority by telling the paralyzed man to get up and walk—and he does, amazing everyone. The episode teaches that Jesus is God, that sin is an even bigger problem than physical problems, and that he has the power and the love to forgive anyone who asks.
