Dr. Glen Mitchell, Chief Medical Officer at Sisters of Mercy Health System in St. Louis, discusses the transition from ICD-9 to ICD-10. The United States has put off this migration a few times before, but this time it looks certain that we begin to use this improved system in 2013. The changes are far-reaching enough that it will take that long to successfully perform the planning and execution needed for success. Dr. Mitchell addresses the benefits of ICD-10 and steps that should be taken for efficient and effective implementation of this new disease and procedure coding process.  The interview was conducted by Dr. Kevin W.
