That's So Maven!

Episode 30: Justine Barber

Listen Later

This week, we sat down with Justine Barber, who co-founded local shoe haven Poppy Barley with her sister, Kendall. They've branched out from having a solely made-to-order e-commerce business to having a storefront and ready made shoes in Edmonton as well. What's coming next?

Fun fact: The name Poppy Barley comes from the fact that barleycorns and poppy seeds were units of measurement before mass-manufacturing took over in shoemaking. One barleycorn was equal to 1/3 of an inch, and four poppy seeds were equal to one barleycorn.

How charming is that?!

Thanks so much for tuning in this week! Next week, we'll be sitting down to talk babies and birth with Sonya Duffee of Full Circle Birth Collective. Talk about a change of pace! We just love how varied the world of Edmonton entrepreneurs is.

See you next week!
