I have had a lifetime of opportunities where I had the choice to Breakdown or Breakthrough... did I always make the "right" choice? Nope. I did however find a way to continue moving forward until I was able to see there was a path through my chaos into joy. In this episode you will hear the story of a very brave hero who lived through one of the bloodiest battles in Afghanistan before being medically retired from the damage caused during his service, the injury that can't be seen from the outside, PTSD. He travelled through the trauma in and out of the military, suicide attempts, contact trauma on his family and more.... Jonny Benton is the Founder of Heart of a Mountain, Director of Military Relations and Board Member for Wild Warrior Adventure, an entrepreneur, and a consultant/advocate for Veteran programs. He is a retired SSG from the United States Army. He served as an airborne infantryman during his active service. Following a combat deployment to Afghanistan as a Squad Leader and serving as an Army Instructor, he was medically retired in October of 2013 after being active for almost 12 years. Jonny and his wife, Lindsey, have been married 17 years, and live together in Colorado Springs with their three beautiful Daughters. Together, they continue to follow God's calling in their lives to serve Veterans and their families within the community, at their church and through their work with Heart of a Mountain and Wild Warrior Adventure.
