The FBI is investigating what it calls an "attempted assassination" of former President Donald Trump, after Secret Service agents fired at a man with an AK-47 on or near Trump's Florida golf course on Sunday. It was not clear if the suspect was aiming his weapon at Trump. 

A Trump campaign spokesperson says the former president is "safe." He was present at the golf course when the shooting unfolded, when he heard “popping sounds” in the vicinity. It comes just over two months after the attempted assassination of the former president that took place in Butler, Pennsylvania. Steven Portnoy brings up to speed on what happened.
