Episode 31
Greetings and thanks for swinging by this episode!
Having your own .com website is essential in today’s music landscape. It can set you apart from other artists who only rely on social media as their main channel for content.
There are many limitations that social media sites like Facebook, Instagram, SnapChat etc. place on it’s users. They can be very powerful but can also change policies without notifying you which can affect your reach and growth.
With your own website, you are in charge of the layout, the content, the design and the functionality which can be very powerful when building up your own brand.
But, do you know just how much traffic you’re actually getting?
Just because you build it doesn’t mean that they will come.
If you have you’re own website but aren’t getting the kind of hits you are expecting, there are a few ways you can generate traffic/interest to help get more eyes and ears on your music.
In This Episode You Will Learn:
1). Why it’s important to know the actual amount of traffic (hits & visitors) your website is getting which can be much less than you might think.
2). The advantages of creating and maintaining your own .com website and why having just a social media page for your music isn’t enough.
3). Why it’s important to consistently include your website URL on social media posts, newsletters, flyers etc. Letting people know you actually have a site can make a big difference in your traffic numbers.
4). The benefits of maintaining an updated website with fresh content a few times a month and why search engines love updated websites. Also ways to create new content on your site that keep your fans coming back for more.
5). How paid advertising can be one of the most effective methods to getting more traffic to your site if you have a small marketing budget.
6). Why it’s important to hook up your website to Google Analytics so you can follow the traffic numbers every month and know exactly how many people are visiting you site.

Thanks again for checking out this podcast. I hope you find the things discussed here in this episode valuable to you and your website strategy.
Having the freedom “off-social” to post whatever you want for your fans and followers will give you an opportunity to carve out a unique niche for yourself.
Your own website has many advantages and making sure you’re getting consistent traffic to it is key to growing and maintaining your music brand.
Peace N Love always,
Mike
