Harmful Algal Blooms occur when there is an over proliferation of algae in body water, either freshwater or saltwater. They are most often caused by diatoms, dinoflagellates, or cyanobacteria. They are associated with an over abundance of nutrients, & typically occur during Spring, & Fall.
