Talking All Things Cardiopulm

Episode 31: Stack-Stack-Stack Breathing

Listen Later

Come in!!  Rachele is taking us behind the scenes of what it’s like to set-up for sauce (marinara) day. She tells us the adventures of finding a tomato vendor, long hours and walls covered in sauce to make her family’s recipe. She explains the importance of digging through the rotten tomatoes to find the best ones. When you want an outcome, you have to lean into the process.

In this episode, Dr. Burriesci defines what stacked breathing is and how to fit it into clinical practice. Just like making sauce, we get to break our current tomatoes down to redefine them. In physical therapy terms, with our patients who have impaired inspiration, we get to break down their current pattern to rebuild something better. She explains how to group exercises with stacked breathing so you get the perfect recipe and best bang for your buck.

In this episode:
- Discus family tradition
- The process of sauce day
- Stacked breathing
- When and how to incorporate stacked breathing into your practice
