This is an organic process which we all experience but not always consciously. As a result we can become very stuck in the first stages of the growth cycle.

This is because soul growth is often triggered by the challenges & fears we encounter. Sometimes through pushing our growth intentionally or from blocks which need clearing so we can move forwards.
 
These triggers  allow our inner demons to rise. And this feels uncomfortable.
