With much of the same charm that made the original one so famous, the movie has a nostalgic beginning. The creators used the same combination of reality and miniatures that helped to distinguish the first film once more. To give the plots more time to breathe and properly develop, I think the runtime could have been increased by another 20 to 30 minutes. As usual, Catherine O'Hara is a triumph. She adds her trademark humor and truly makes the movie. Returning was Winona Ryder, whose performance was competent but not particularly noteworthy.
