Mariyam Shiuna, suspended minister of the Maldives People’s National Congress party, apologized for a social media post allegedly disrespecting the Indian national flag. Her post, targeting the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), replaced the party’s logo with a symbol resembling the Ashok Chakra from the Indian Tricolour. Shiuna deleted the post after severe backlash, particularly from Indian social media users. On the other hand, Maldivian Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer thanks India for increasing export of essential supplies despite diplomatic tensions.
