Episode 337: Making Love Practical

Listen Later

When John says that God is love, he refers to the Greek word for agape: this is the love that moved God to send his only son for the world’s redemption. And this is the love that we are expected to show to both God and to fellow human beings.

How do we love one another in practical ways with this kind of agape love? In today’s list, we explore ten ways to love others with agape love based on Biblical examples. Among the examples are helping others when they are in a pinch (like Jesus helping out a wedding feast); getting help for others when you can’t help yourself (like the men who lowered their paralyzed friend through a roof to get to Jesus); and freely forgiving offenses.

Scriptures referenced include 1 John 4:7-8; John 2:1-11; Mark 2:1-12; Acts 12:5; John 17:6-19; Ephesians 1:15-23; Acts 16:13-15; Matthew 18:21-22; Proverbs 17:9; John 13:1-5; 1 John 3:17; 2 Samuel 9; Acts 9:27-30; Philemon 1:8-11; Philippians 4:2-3; John 1:35-42; Hebrews 10:24-25; and John 15:12-13.
