Two of the guys are back this week with a returning special guest, Dr. Matthew Everhard! Dr. Everhard is the pastor of Gospel Fellowship Presbyterian Church (PCA), and an adjunct professor at the Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary. Pastor Matt joins the guys this week to talk about his newest book, Bold as a Lion: Christian Courage in an Age of Cowards.
Barry and Matt recount their time celebrating NAPARC’s 50th Anniversary. Matt gives an overview of self-publishing a book, versus using a publisher. He covers the drawbacks and advantages of each option. Matt speaks about what prompted him to write Bold as a Lion. Scott asks if there is a proper place for fear in the Christian life, and Matt provides a helpful distinction between fear and cowardice. Matt talks about the “theme verse” of his book. Barry invites Matt to walk listeners through the arrangement of the book. Scott and Matt discuss the difference between afear of man and the fear of the Lord. The author explains how Christians can overcome the fear of man. Matt covers a “taxonomy of fear” with the guys. Barry asks how Matt’s book encourages a reliance upon the Holy Spirit. Matt explains the problem of having a “disconnect” between our beliefs and daily life. Scott summarizes the talk, pointing out that it is not a question of if we fear, but who and what we fear. Several archetypes of Christian courage, the subject of the second part of book, are covered. Matt encourages future readers of Bold as a Lion. Barry and Matt talk about the primary audience of the book and how to purchase a copy.
Are you looking for a biblical and gospel-charged answer to the sin of cowardice? Are you tired of living a life held captive by the fear of man?
