In November 1995, Robert C Schmitt wrote an article for the Hawaiian Medical Journal titled Medical Progress in a Remote Archipelago.  Schmitt severed as the Hawaii State Statistician and wrote or co-authored 4 books and more than 200 articles and numerous government reports. 18 of his articles appeared in the Hawaiian Medical Journal.
