On today's bracket breakdown episode of Barstool Bench Mob, Jake, Marty, and Rico kick things off with the major storylines coming out of Indianapolis (02:19). We have some top-tier referees being sent home due to COVID tracing. Players are complaining about the food and conditions inside the "controlled environment" in Indy. But in the end, we are just happy to have an NCAA Tournament after missing last year's.
Our bracket breakdown begins with the West Region (16:28). Is Gonzaga the clear favorite to come out of this region? Will we see an early-season rematch of the Zags and Hawkeyes in the Elite Eight? Are Evan Mobley and the Trojans being overlooked as a sleeper?
In the South Region, is Baylor the most vulnerable #1 seed? (26:47) Marty and Rico try to hammer out their Texas Tech-Arkansas bet. Is Winthrop the trendiest 12-5 upset pick? And Rico is rooting hard for Florida after the Virginia Tech social media team jumped all over his past Hokies takes.
Over to the Midwest Region where Illinois is the hottest team in the country but they could have a tough matchup against Oklahoma State in the Sweet 16. (41:48) Why isn't West Virginia getting any love? And Rico's got some tempo bets that you're going to want to lock in before Friday.
In the East Region, everybody is counting out Michigan. (48:51) With Isaiah Livers out, are the Wolverines in danger of an early exit? Rico is out on Texas, Marty is in on Florida State and both have no idea if they love or hate Maryland. And Rico slips in a free gift for the Mobsters.
To wrap things up, the guys hit on some of the recent coaching carousel news around the country. (59:05)
