Assassin’s Creed has been one of the biggest franchises in video games in the last decade. As such, it has lots of ups and downs which makes it an easy target for quick jokes and jabs. Since we’ve taken shots at the series in the past, we figured it prudent to actually take a real look at where it all began, with the original game back in 2007.

AssCreed 1 follows the stories of two men: Altair Ibn-La’Ahad, a member of the Assassin Order in 1191, and Desmond Miles, Altair’s distant descendant in the year 2012. Desmond has been kidnapped by a mysterious corporation and is forced to relive his genetic memories of Altair during the Crusades via a device called the Animus. Both men stumble across a vast conspiracy that threatens the world in both time periods and must race to unravel it, largely through violence.
