This week on TheMegAndMaggiPodcast we discuss a big question we all have faced many times: when do I push through and rely on discipline and when do I give myself a bit of grace?
We are taught that hard work leads to success. We tend to make this mean that work is good and rest is bad. It's very easy to get sucked into the all-or-nothing mindset when it comes to work, exercise, food, and many other aspects of life.
Listen to this week's episode to hear what we used to think about grace, discipline, rest, and work. Then, we dive into our current understanding of these concepts and how we view them working together now instead of against each other.
In order to produce great results, we must go through periods of work and periods of rest. This applies to many areas of life, and we really dig into the examples of work and exercise in this episode.
It's important that when we are in a situation where we are questioning which approach to take, grace or discipline, that we also take time to reflect on our decision afterward. Did we make the right decision in that situation? If so, take note of how you felt and which decision you made. This will help guide you in the future. If you feel as if you didn't make the right decision, also take note of how you felt and which decision you made. This way, when you're faced with a similar situation in the future, you can course-correct and choose a more suitable approach.
Sometimes we must rest in order to produce great work. And other times, we must not listen to the voices in our head telling us to give up. The more we practice making this decision and reflect on it, the easier it is to trust ourselves in the future.
