In this week’s episode, we’re discussing the importance of warming up before a training session. It’s a very important part of training and you’re leaving a lot on the table if you choose to skip it.
In order to get the most out of your training, it’s important to take the time to properly prepare the body for what’s to come, and this is beyond doing a couple warm-up sets of a specific exercise … This is ensuring you’ve taken time to start with general movement and work your way to specific drills and exercises that mimic the work you’re about to complete in the session. Warm-ups are important from a physical standpoint, but they are also important from a mental perspective, allowing yourself to focus on the training and dial in your attention.
Warming up may be one of the less glamorous parts of a training session, but arguably the most impactful. Whether you’re an athlete in sport, athlete in life, or you’re a coach yourself, it’s key that you prioritize your warm-up the same way you prioritize your training!
