Welcome to Episode 366. In this episode the Leftovers are joined by Handy Greg (Amazing Home Projects with Handy Greg) and Rebekah Dahling of Picardcast.
This week we do talk about WandaVision at the end of the podcast so stick around for WandaVision discussion.
In Good Pop Bad Pop this week for Movies we talk about the new horror comedy film Psycho Goreman from director Steven Kostanski. PG: Psycho Goreman introduces emerging stars Nita-Josée Hanna and Owen Myre as Mimi and Luke, a perpetually bickering sister/brother duo who unwittingly resurrect an ancient alien overlord (Matt Ninaber) who’s been entombed in their backyard. They nickname the malevolent creature Psycho Goreman (or PG for short) who thanks to their possession of a magical amulet is forced to obey their childish whims. We also discuss the new film The Little Things starring Denzel Washington, Rami Malek and Jared Leto playing on HBO Max and in select theaters. Brian talks about The Marksman starring Liam Neeson out now in theaters. We all watched Penguin Bloom on Netflix starring Naomi Watts and Andrew Lincoln. Brian and Rebekah watched The Dig on Netflix starring Carey Mulligan (Promising Young Woman) and Ralph Fiennes about an archaeologist who embarked on the historically important excavation of Sutton Hoo in 1938. Finally, Mortal made it’s way on to Amazon Prime and we talk about this movie from 2020.
In TV this week Brian and Greg talk about the new EPIX dramedy Bridge and Tunnel created by Edward Burns that is set in the 1980’s. And we all watched We Are the Brooklyn Saints on Netflix a documentary series following a youth football program in the heart of inner city East NY, Brooklyn. Geared towards boys 7-13 years old, the Brooklyn Saints program is more than a sport – it’s a family, and a vehicle for opportunity.
In News it looks like Harry Potter is getting a series coming to HBO Max. Tomb Raider 2 is getting a new director. An Alien Nation TV series is still in the works according to Jeff Nichols. And HBO is working on an animated Game of Thrones series.
In Marvel News we find out what Deadpool 3 would have been if Disney hadn’t purchased FOX.
In DC News Joel Kinnaman has some hilarious comments about John Cena on the set of The Suicide Squad and we finally have a release date for The Snyder Cut of Justice League.
And finally, a WandaVision Episode 4 discussion.
