In this week’s episode, we discuss a recently popularized topic of load management. Load management is a term that’s used a lot in professional sport to support athletes throughout their long and gruelling seasons and ensure they are able to perform at their best with properly dosed game/ practice-plan, strength training, recovery, and more.
Thanks to my friend Kris Robertson at KRT Training, he explains how S&C coaches (and trainers and movement professionals) are really considered “load managers” as it’s our job to zoom out, see things with a big picture view and ensure we’re dosing things correctly over time. I wanted to take this concept and expand on it to share some programming insights, things to consider during the needs analysis process of writing a program, and also how to view things from a more well-rounded perspective. I tried to explain this in a really simplified way, focusing on the aspects of programming that may need to fluctuate or adapt over time to ensure you’re properly preparing an individual for what's to come.
Whether you’re an athlete in sport, athlete in life, S&C coach, personal trainer, or movement professional, this episode dives into a couple different aspects of load management and how you can apply it to your own coaching, training, and life. If you are someone that is looking for support with your training, nutrition, and lifestyle, I have spots open for my 1:1 Remote Coaching for the remainder of the summer - check it out HERE!
