Episode 37 Notes

  • Tom Cruise and Ving Rhames are the only actors to appear in all five Mission: Impossible films
  • Simon Pegg plays Benji Dunn in the Mission: Impossible franchise and Scotty in the Star Trek franchise
  • Alan was wrong about Jon Voight portrayed Ethan Hunt in the TV version of Mission: Impossible (1966–1973). As far as I can tell, Jon Voight was not in the TV show and the character of Ethan Hunt was created for the film series.
  • The previous films in the series are Brian De Palma’s Mission: Impossible (1996), John Woo’s Mission: Impossible 2 (2000), J.J. Abrams’ Mission: Impossible 3 (2006), and Brad Bird’s Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (2011)
  • At the time Mission: Impossible was released, Pierce Brosnan had just portrayed James Bond in GoldenEye (1995)
  • M:I5 director Christopher McQuarrie wrote The Usual Suspects (1995)
  • Despite Alan’s claims, “Theme from Mission: Impossible” was written and composed by Lalo Schifrin
  • Christopher Shea is excited about Arri’s Alexa 65 camera. It was used for an underwater scene in Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation and will also be used to shoot Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One (2016)
  • We reviewed Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014) in “Episode 16: Kingsman: The Secret Service”
