In May 1979, three women ventured into the mountainous forests near the city of Nagaokakyo, Japan, to forage for a plant known as kogomi, a local edible green. Only one of them returned. The other two were brutally murdered, and even 45 years later, the killer remains unidentified. One of the victims also left behind a mysterious message.
