In the first week of the school holidays Jordan and I were fortunate enough to fly down to Dunedin to attend the 60th Physical Education New Zealand conference! We felt that this would be a good opportunity to sit down and have a discussion about what we enjoyed about conference, our key take aways and learning, and to share a few stories for people who didn't get to attend.
Attending PENZ conference is always a highlight for me and it's great to meet and network with a number of like minded educators who are passionate about PE and movement. Lots of shout outs during this episode including the crew from Kings College in Auckland discussing their amazing scholarship programme; Hastings Boys PE department and their approach to building character among their junior students; a dodgey debate moderator; our new PENZ President Celia Fleck; a couple of water polo players, and a random guy in a kilt!
As mentioned in the introduction, Dale Sidebottom and I are running two more workshops this term with a focus around gamification and game based learning. We are hitting up Hamilton on Monday the 20th of August, then making our way down to Christchurch for Tuesday the 21st of August. Check out the links as we would love to see you there!
