Forty percent of the patients cared for at Intermountain, as of 2018, are in a risk- or value-based model, which requires different workflows, different types of teams and different areas of focus. Compensating providers in ways that support both fee-for-service and value-based care models will champion their initiatives around clinical quality, safety, experience and outcomes as well as help prevent provider burnout.
