Dr. Marcus Matthews is an author, educational leader, and motivational speaker. He is executive director of Matthews-Fayne Foundation – a nonprofit that provides youth education initiatives, services, and resources. He is also a faculty member at American College of Mental Health Education in Baltimore, MD and assistant principal at Nicholas Hobbs Academy in Bartlett, TN.
Matthews holds a doctorate in higher and adult education, a master’s in instruction and curriculum leadership and a bachelor’s in journalism, all respectively from University of Memphis. He also earned his K – 12 Instructional Leadership License from Christian Brothers University in Memphis. Matthews’ most recent book is entitled, “Urban ACEs: How to Reach and Teach Students Traumatized by Adverse Childhood Experiences (Koehler Books, 2019).” Urban ACEs provides strategies and real life anecdotes teacher preparation programs, school districts, educators, counselors and parents can use to support traumatized children.
