Its September 2021 and we've all just had a summer when the sun wasn't sunning. So at this point you would imagine...typical Britain with the crappy whether..No surprises there then. Then out of no where BOOM, a petrol crisis triggered by a leak that stated some forecourts might not be able to be supplied with fuel under the usual schedule due to a shortage of HGV drivers. 24 Hrs later some not so clever people understood the message to mean go out and top up on fuel that you don't need in case you need it and so the queues at petrol stations start to build up and with the assistance of social media this interpretation of the original message spreads like wild fire and now we have panic buying. So to assist with messaging the government got involved to ensure that if there wasn't enough panic before, they will create it by stating ever so calmly - "Don't Panic" and the rest is history. The B word has been used to explain the cause of the madness and at the point of writing it is clear that the government hasn't got a clue. So what is the real problem? is this because of Brexit, the pandemic backlog of HGV driving licences or simply stupidity? we discuss in episode 38.
