Episode 38: Opioid Epidemic Part 3: Resources and Recovery

Listen Later

This week on the New Generation podcast, Tanner Mondok and Janeé Avery discuss resources and programs in the Mercer County area for people who struggle with drug addiction in the third edition of the opioid epidemic series. Special guest Gloria Mackaly, President of the Mercer County Coalition for Drug Awareness, joins the show to shed light on her experience with helping drug addicts through their recovery journey.

Gloria has worked for the Court system since 1990, but it wasn’t until she worked as a Judge’s Court Clerk in Nevada that she had her first glimpse of Drug Addiction. While working in Drug Court, she gained a great deal of admiration for addicts in recovery, watching them grow week to week, all the while not knowing that one day it would personally touch her family. Gloria’s granddaughter became her inspiration for the Mercer County Coalition for Drug Awareness. Gloria continues to work in the court system as the Intake Officer of the Domestic Relations Section of Mercer County. She spends a great deal of time supporting the ROAR Center and working on collaborative programs with area agencies and foundations. (roarcentermccda.org)
