On today's episode of Barstool Bench Mob, the guys recap an action-packed Sweet 16 that featured some blowouts, three 1-seeds advancing, and one stunning upset.
In the West Region (03:13), we had two blowouts with Gonzaga and USC set to meet in the Elite Eight. Can anybody stop the Bulldogs and if so, is it Evan Mobley and the Trojans? Is this the toughest matchup the Zags will have faced all season? Marty and Rico both believe in the Trojans chances for an upset.
In the East Region (11:48) we saw the major upset of the weekend with UCLA outlasting Alabama in overtime. The Crimson Tide's struggles at the foul line probably cost them the game and the Bench Mob some money. Mick Cronin's squad is heading to the Elite Eight in a matchup against 1-seed Michigan. The Wolverines smoked Florida State and are poised for another trip to the Final Four. Is Michigan the most underrated team left in the field?
In the Midwest Region (33:33), the Beavers continue their Cinderella run after beating Loyola-Chicago in an absolute rock fight. Oregon State's defense has helped propel them to an unlikely Elite Eight matchup against Houston on Monday. The Cougars were able to figure out the Syracuse zone and get past the Orange. Do Marty and Jake finally believe in Houston despite only beating double-digit seeds so far?
Over to the South Region (46:38) where the 1-seed Baylor Bears and 3-seed Arkansas Razorbacks will meet in an electric Elite Eight game Monday night. Arkansas barely survived after Max Abmas' last-second shot just missed. Jared Butler struggled against Villanova but the Bears overcame a 7-point halftime deficit to advance. Do the Razorbacks have the firepower to stay with Baylor?
And we also have an Elite Eight set in the Women's Tournament (01:01:41) with three 1-seeds headlining the field including Paige Bueckers and UConn.
And we wrap things up discussing Indiana's hiring of Mike Woodson (01:05:26).
