May Funeral Home, in Glenside, PA and Dr. Sara Murphy is a death educator, certified thanatologist, and suicidologist with fifteen years of scholarly, pedagogical, and professional experience in the field. She is also a faculty member at the University of Rhode Island and affiliate faculty member in the Thanatology Graduate Program at Marian University. They discuss why it’s important for funeral businesses to understand how to better serve the LGBTQIA+ community, both from a business and a humanitarian standpoint. They also talk about some of the most important takeaways from their lecture given at the 2021 NFDA Convention and why starting and continuing this conversation is vital to the future of deathcare.
