- Opinion | The SAT’s Bogus ‘Adversity Score’ — It incorporates demographic and census data to profile high school students along a scale, from one to 100, of relative poverty, opportunity and achievement on the SAT in relation to their classmates. A score north of 50 indicates adversity; below that threshold lies privilege. Colleges will see this number, but students will not.
- College Board will add adversity score for everyone taking the SAT — Among the factors that would go into the adversity index are some that are economic (proportion of students at a school who are eligible for free or reduced lunch), that reflect economic challenges (housing instability) and educational status (percentage of students who go on to college). A score would be on a scale up to 100.
- Four Reasons The College Board's New Adversity Score Is A Bad Idea — What should we make of the new SAT adversity score? Will it increase fairness in college admissions? Will it help increase the diversity of enrollments? Or will it backfire, adding to Americans’ skepticism about the fairness of college admissions?
- Tucker Carlson: Nobody Hates Diversity More Than Rich Liberals — What if someone you hated offered to pay off your mortgage? Put your kids through college? Or delivered a tractor-trailer full of Snickers bars to your house? You would be confused at first, and suspicious. Why is an enemy giving you the gift of a lifetime? In the end, if you were smart you would take the gift.
