One of the most profound statements I ever read comes from George Orwell’s prophetic book "1984," the quote was “I understand how, I do not understand why.” With all the technological and scientific advances, medical innovations, even space travel, humans are amazing at figuring out the “how” of things but the “why” is so much more challenging and important to human peak performance. We understand how a person can become addicted to drugs or alcohol, but why? We understand how a seemingly healthy child can get an illness and die way too soon in life, but why?We can understand how a person senselessly murders another person, but why?We can understand how a CEO embezzles millions of dollars, but why? So why do you, do the things you do? You already know how you got to where you are in life as you read this. However, a more profound question to answer is why. This podcast attempts to answer the 'whys' of human performance by looking at universal human characteristics and truths but explained by analyzing some of the greatest figures in world history from DaVinci to Einstein and others in-between.
