On today’s instalment of The Unscathed Life Podcast, I am super excited to have the amazing Enitan Agidee. Enitan is a hair coach, she is actually UK’s first hair coach and is also a board certified Trichologist. Enitan is passionate about hair, black hair specifically. Her ambition is to support black women in having bold expectations for their hair and scalp health.

This 39th episode is filled with great teachings from Enitan about her journey to becoming one of the UK’s most sought after Hair Coaches. Starting at the very beginning, Enitan discusses having to flee from Nigeria to the UK very suddenly due to fear of political persecution and instability at age 11. 

Enitan, who's Dad was Nigeria's former elected President and was sadly killed  shortly after his victory describes how life changed rather dramatically for herself, her mum and siblings. Going from comfort and immense affluence in one moment to barely having enough to eat and to having move houses about 11 times in one year, Enitan speaks of the impact of this experience on how she viewed the world and money. We discussed her strained relationship with her mother and the importance of mirroring healthy mother daughter relationships for our kids to see. 

Ultimately, we get to talking about her journey to starting the Healthy Hair Studio. We discuss how easy it is for God-given gifts and talents to be disdained because of our expectation that every gift must come with a measure of grandiosity. Enitan literally single handedly created an industry from scratch with a purpose that didn’t seem "reputable” at the time.  Enitan went against the grain and she teaches us how to do the same in our own lives. She gives truth to the fact that we can all pursue our God given purposes uniquely without trying to fit into any mould.

Today’s episode shatters the stereotypical thinking on purpose and also helps us see that serving our highest call, unapologetically, is where we start to yield the benefits of being in our Zone of Genius.
