John, the author of “The Kid from the South Bronx Who Never Gave Up,” is the son of a heroin dealer who tried to cope with the trauma of being molested as a young boy, fell hard into drugs and alcohol and eventually found himself angry and full of rage at all he had endured. Along the way, he identified and followed his passion for karate, earning his coveted 10th-degree black belt and the title of National Karate Champion. More than thirty-five years ago, at the urging of his family, John entered rehab and began on a path to healing, which included starting to listen instead of just hearing. He emerged a changed man, committed to helping others afflicted by addiction and today is recognized as a thought leader in the research and treatment of mental illness.Contact Us: Email: [email protected]: @brushcreekthriversFacebook: From Survivor to Thriver4.6
