How do I connect with my teenager? How do I get them to trust me and come to me with things when they are struggling?
When you look back to your middle school and high school years do you ever wish you had your parents there for you? There to listen, there to ask questions, there to tell you that they made mistakes and are human too? I bet if you are honest with yourself you do wish your parents had been there a little bit more for you in these years when life was changing for you and you were dealing with friendships and peer pressure. We talk all about the importance of this time frame as a parent. The years before this set the foundation of trust and respect, but these are the years where values are starting to be put to the test and where the need to belong and not be alone outweighs some of the things you've been taught in the past.
