When Peter asked the Savior, "Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him?" I'm not sure he was prepared for the answer he received. 

Christ gave a straight forward answer, then expanded on His answer with a parable. 

And then, He gave a clear and unmistakable explanation of the meaning of that parable. 

Christ has reiterated His commandment to forgive in this dispensation saying "...of you it is required to forgive all men."

It doesn't get much clearer than that!
