Reasons We Should Study the OT:

  1. From it, we gain an appreciation for the new covenant under which all Christians now live.
  2. When we study the OT, we recognize that its principles have not changed and should still be obeyed.
  3. The OT leaves us with a deeper understanding of who God is.

    4. Ancient Israel divided the OT into 3 categories (unlike our modern 4).

    • Law: Gen-Deut
    • Prophets: Josh, Judg, Samuel, Kings, Isaiah-Malachi (but not Lamentations and Daniel)
