Episode #4: Africa Needs to Export New Tech, Not Import

Listen Later

In this episode, John Kamara, explores the idea of empowering tech entrepreneurs in Africa to innovate in sectors and with technology that doesn’t necessarily have a social impact addressing issues unique to Africa - a focus that dominates the tech sector. Instead, there should be more of a push to solve global issues using cutting-edge technology. Unfortunately, the latter is rarely seen.

Kamara points to the lack of investment in research and development as a major contributing factor and the need to engage with foreign investors, innovators, and institutions to drive capital toward this.

Kamara is the founder of Afya Rekod, Adalabsafrica, and several other tech and creative ventures.
