In an article entitled The truth about Black fatherhood Alecia Eberhardt-Smith address the stereotype of Black fathers as “absent” and Black children as “fatherless”. According to a 2013 National health statistics report report by the CDC, Black dads—whether they live with their children, or not—are more actively involved in their children’s lives than their counterparts of other races.
The commitment of Black fathers can be seen in the recent formation of “Black Fathers of Waco”. “Black Fathers of Waco” is an organization started in Waco Texas that provides a space for Black Dads and their families to connect and find support and community in their parenting journey.
