Welcome back to Psyched! After a short hiatus, Maheen and Katie are back and ready to chat. This week we tackle the topic of Men’s mental health, and the stigma surrounding it. In a world where men are often told to ‘man-up’ and shy away from showing emotion out of fear of seeming weak, conversations about mental health can be difficult to approach. However, In order to demonstrate what it is really like to be a man in today’s society, we felt it necessary to introduce a guest who knows what it is like. So, today we are talking to our friend Oli Gent, who talks to us about his experiences with bullying, the importance of self-care and ‘Movember’, alongside many more important topics that we believe necessary to discuss. We hope that by hearing Oli’s story, you’ll feel courageous to take steps to open up about your own experiences and no longer feel embarrassed about speaking out.
