After back-to-back interviews, it's back to just me alone at the mic. Patrick's on an island with my favorite Brazilian horror film, Our Evil.

Our Evil is a small, Brazilian horror film that I discovered from Luke Rodriguez over at Modern Horrors. It's from first-time filmmaker Samuel Galli, and everytime I watch it I come away even more impressed. It pushes some boundaries with torture scenes and a character study of a real sick bastard. A lot of the movies covered on the show up until now have been more lighthearted, but this one is H E A V Y. 

It's also quirky in that it does include several dramatic tonal shifts. Another example of something that couldn't possibly have come from the studio system because it breaks too many "rules." But in this case, I think it works to tell a really dark, depressing tale in a more palatable way. This movie unfortunately got zero press coverage when it was released in the states, and still doesn't have a US physical release, which is a damn shame.
