Suzie is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in human development and family studies with a specific research interest in studying the role of movement in the prenatal environment and socioemotional functioning of women during pregnancy. She is especially interested in studying pregnancy in underrepresented communities. I have had the opportunity to interact regularly with Suzie as we are both students in the Educational Psychology department at UNT. She continually exudes a positive energy and is a joy to collaborate and work with. Suzie was also a guest speaker in an undergraduate course I taught, sharing about her experience with having a stepson with high-functioning autism. In this episode, we discuss Suzie's current research pursuit, her family operating as a unit, the process of receiving a diagnosis for her stepson, and both the challenges and joys of life.
