Some press coverage during the trial revealed that jurors and spectators thought the occult angle was unconvincing. An excerpt from "Blood on Black" explains the events that made Damien Echols a prime suspect, and they had nothing to do with black T-shirts, listening to Metallica or having a funny haircut.
