If we are going to talk about the basics of the Bible then we have to talk about God! Why? Because we were given the Bible so that we could know God, know His promises, His character, His attributes, and then be better able to serve Him, worship Him, and glorify Him! If we claim to know God then we should seek to understand what it means to know Him and we should seek to know him more!
