Carrie White is a regular high school girl.  She has the overly religious mother, hand made clothes and she doesn’t know what menstruation is… Jesus, any one of those things would get you ridiculed in high school, Carrie hits the trifecta. I think the lesson to learn from Carrie is that high school is horrible, people are horrible and you’re lucky to make it out alive.
