There are approximately 1,500 shipwrecks on the bottom of Lake Michigan. Of those lost, none resulted in as great a loss of life as the one that went down on September 8, 1860, off the shores north of the city of Chicago. Today’s we’re discussing the “Titanic of the Great Lakes” – the Sinking of the Lady Elgin.
