Ahmad Baset Azizi is one of the most inspiring human beings I have ever met. You can read some of his stories here or here. His story is truly rare in the circles most musicians in the United States move in, and his understanding of foreign affairs is refreshing and marked by the type of nuance that only someone who has seen the world's cruelty firsthand can possess. We discuss the situation in Afghanistan, his life through music, and his unique relationship with former Principal Trumpet (and guest of the Arts Salon) Dave Bilger.
