Leslie prepared herself and worked hard for motherhood. Although it was later than she had planned, a career was always part of the plan. Having done so, she thought that everything would just fall into place when she finally gets pregnant. However, when she finally had her second pregnancy it dawned on her that putting motherhood and career together was not going to be the smooth experience that she envisioned it to be. Her burnout brought her to the intersection of managing stress, growth and self-care, and eventually landed her in her current research and career focus.

The research was always at the core of her passion even before she started Mom's Hierarchy of Needs over five years ago. She explained how women are for being celebrated for doing things at the base of this hierarchy and are being shamed for doing things on top, she has become a sought-after and frequently quoted speaker, writer, and researcher by the various media outlets and publications such as New York Times, CNN, National Geographic, Fast Company, US News & World Report among others.
